This sounds absolutely compelling. I hope someday international travel is easy again (also so I can take a Jimny trip around Iceland).

I g rabbed the book from which this was excerpted,   for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Wow, that is indeed an odd place. Not somewhere I’m tempted to try to visit myself.

That’s exactly the kind of “are you sure this is a road?” r oad I love to find in my Jeep, so walking that is absolutely tempting for me.

You wouldn’t make it far in an LJ though.

I’d love to get my WR250R on that.

That might throw off the ambience for everyone else.

Doesn’t seem like a spot that would be very well traveled.

True.

Yeah I know. That’s what keeps me from taking it on a bunch of gnarly single tracks that are designated for bicycles only. Hard to find dual sport friendly trails within a hundred miles of my house.

Somewhere I have a Jeep t-shirt that says something to the effect that “hiking is a good trail wasted”.

“ You can’t see anything from a car; you’ve got to get out of the goddamn contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees, over the sandstone and through the thornbrush and cactus. When traces of blood begin to mark your trail, you’ll see something, maybe.” -Cactus Ed

So I skimmed the article, but I couldn’t figure out. This path if you pick the right time/tide it an actual path? or is it like a on land, then knee deep, then too deep, then back on land type path?

super interesting - never heard of that. So we don’t even really know if it’s man made or not even though records of it go back to the 1400's, crazy .  Can you imagine if that were in the states? You’d have selfie seeking hordes getting caught out by the tide constantly...

I think the former, but perhaps the motorcycle videos onlytwowheels posted elsewhere in the comments here would help.

Reality show idea! Take a bunch of 20-something dudes, get them all boozed up then turn them loose on the broomway and see how many Darwin picks off. Monitor with drone cameras for dramatic effect.
